Legend Yachts UK Ltd couldn’t have picked a better two days in which to host their National Legend Yachts weekend which was held on the 18 – 19 May at Haslar Marina, Gosport.
There were 14 Legend Yachts on display in total including two new models, the 33 and 37, a selection of second hand models and a strong representation from the Legend Owners Association.
Visitors were invited to stroll along the pontoons to view the boats and chat with owners and staff in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The yachts varied in size from 30’ through to 50’ with some sailing from as far away as the East Coast to be part of the event.
Saturday proved a successful day with plenty of interest which was rounded off nicely with drinks aboard with owners.
Visitors from Saturday and those who had responded to the publicity surrounding the event were given the opportunity to experience Legend sailing as crew for the Three Forts Challenge held on Sunday. Nine yachts took part in the Challenge to sail (race) around the three Solent forts and back to Haslar Marina.
A little more wind would have been ideal although it didn’t prevent all participants enjoying the occasion. Luke Van Beek in his Legend 340 won on handicap to lift the trophy.
A special mention to the Ladies team who finished in a very respectable third raising over £250 for Cancer Research UK in the process.
