After spending two months adrift at sea Louis Jordan’s capsized 35ft sailing boat was found 200 miles off the North Carolina by a German ship. An injury caused when his boat flipped meant Louis was unable to repair his broken mast. In addition his electronics and navigation systems were no longer working.
To survive once his food and water and run out Louis collected rainwater, which he drank at a rate of a pint a day. He ate fish he caught by trailing dirty clothes in the ocean.
The US Coast Guard transported the sailor by helicopter from the German vessel, Houston Express, to a hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. He was discharged on Friday morning.
