Musto will continue their support of talented offshore sailor Clarisse Crémer (FRA), partnering with her new team L’OCCITANE en Provence.
Having supported Clarisse in her previous Vendée Globe campaign, Musto will be working with the French skipper once again in the lead up to – and for the duration of – her next Vendée challenge in 2024. The collaboration will see her entire team, including shore crew and support staff, decked out in the performance clothing brand.
“Working with Musto is a great honour,” says Clarisse with pride. “So many great skippers work as part of #TeamMusto it was actually a little intimidating in the beginning! Their line-up of ambassadors in offshore sailing speaks for itself. It is trusted by the very best and we know that this kit is going to last when we race around the world. When racing in really challenging conditions, it’s very important to make sure you have utmost confidence in your kit, which gives you confidence in your performance.”
Alongside the likes of long-term Musto ambassadors Sam Davies and Justine Mettraux, Clarisse will continue to support Musto’s advancement for its ranges of female-specific technical sailing clothing. Her offshore experience will enable her to provide vital product feedback into Musto’s current HPX and MPX collections, which Clarisse and her co-skipper – Britain’s Alan Roberts – wore during this year’s Rolex Fastnet Race, and will wear again in the Transat Jacques Vabre in October.
“Working with Musto for my new campaign was key,” Clarisse explains. “I have my preferences onboard, and having Musto kit with me is very important. It means I don’t have to change anything. Musto is always open to suggestions and when I identify areas of improvement, I can have that conversation with Musto’s designers and they will translate my feedback into their new collections. There is a lot that is new for me right now, but I take comfort in the fact that my relationship with Musto is ongoing and, in turn, my sailing experience ensures they remain the best in the business. We work very well together!”
Crémer’s campaign will be raced onboard the former Apivia, previously owned by fellow Musto ambassador, Charlie Dalin. The boat has an impressive heritage, having won the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2019, and finished 2nd in the Vendée Globe in 2021, and the Route du Rhum in 2022.
“I was without a boat for a while, so I have actually been a little stressed,” admits Clarisse. “This boat is fantastic though, and we sailed it pretty well in the Fastnet. Having such a great boat and such great sailing gear… it’s a winning combination!”
Musto’s Head of Marketing, Nick Houchin, is pleased to have Clarisse continue with #TeamMusto. He said: “We are proud to continue our support of Clarisse with the extended agreement to kit out the whole of the L’OCCITANE en Provence team for the Vendée Globe 2024. Working with such accomplished ambassadors like Clarisse is incredibly important to us; their unique insight allows us to develop the best kit that can withstand the toughest conditions, guaranteeing reliability, and comfort. We couldn’t do what we do without our #TeamMusto ambassadors. Clarisse is wonderful to work with and we’re looking forward to being part of the exciting campaign she has ahead of her.”
