Expedition Zero, a trailblazer in sustainable expedition sailing, will unveil an innovative yacht design at the Southampton International Boat Show 2024. This much-anticipated debut will occur during a 30-minute Foredeck Stage presentation on September 16th at 11.45 am.
The presentation will showcase their cutting-edge yacht concept meticulously designed to be the world’s most environmentally friendly adventure sailing vessel. The yacht addresses a growing global demand for sustainable exploration and is crafted with commercial operators in mind. The first public viewing of the concept design will demonstrate the vessel’s state-of-the-art features and offer a glimpse into the future of eco-conscious sailing.
Central to this landmark event is the Expedition Zero Vision, an ambitious initiative to launch the world’s first fleet of “Net Zero” adventure sailing yachts. These vessels are engineered to set new benchmarks in sustainability without compromising on performance, making them ideal for a wide range of operators looking to blend environmental responsibility with high functionality. The newly unveiled yacht embodies these principles, perfectly balancing exceptional performance with minimal environmental impact.
In an exciting collaboration, Wavysail Ocean Adventures, Expedition Zero’s sister company, will be the first to operate this new fleet of yachts. Wavysail, renowned for its award-winning ocean expeditions and bespoke sailing experiences led by elite skippers, will integrate these state-of-the-art vessels into its line-up of global adventures.
The first Expedition Zero vessel is planned for launch in 2025, with an extraordinary proving voyage through the Northwest Passage—often referred to as the “Everest” of sailing. This exclusive voyage presents a rare opportunity for a select few to join an iconic journey that pushes the boundaries of sustainable sailing.
Joining Expedition Zero on stage will be Innovation Yachts, winners of the 2023 Ocean Tribute Award. Innovation Yachts is celebrated for crafting custom-built vessels using the finest sustainable and renewable materials making them the perfect build partner for Expedition Zero. Their collaboration with Expedition Zero ensures that the new fleet meets and exceeds the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental responsibility.
“We are thrilled to reveal this groundbreaking yacht design and share plans for the exciting Northwest Passage expedition at the Southampton Boat Show,” said Andrew Cowen of Expedition Zero. “The innovative design of this yacht, crafted for the demanding conditions of the commercial off-shore adventure market, exemplifies our commitment to a truly sustainable future for ocean adventure.”
