First ‘Clean Marina’ Accreditation on the River Thames

Tingdene Marinas has announced that Racecourse Marina Windsor has been awarded The Yacht Harbour Association’s (TYHA) prestigious Clean Marina accreditation, making it the first marina on the River Thames to receive this recognition for environmental excellence.

This milestone highlights Tingdene Marinas’ commitment to sustainable marina operations, setting a benchmark for inland waterways and reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility within the marine industry.

The TYHA Clean Marina programme is designed to help marinas implement best practices in environmental protection, ensuring that operations do not contribute to water pollution. To achieve accreditation, Racecourse Marina Windsor met stringent sustainability criteria.

Jon White, TYHA General Manager is delighted to see marinas striving hard to meet and exceed the expectations on protecting UK waters, saying: “Tingdene Marinas and their team at Racecourse Marina deserve a huge congratulations on their hard work and efforts in achieving the TYHA Clean Marina Accreditation.”

Richard Birch, Senior Operations Manager at Tingdene Marinas, added: “This achievement is the result of months of dedicated work by the Racecourse Marina team. From refining emergency procedures to improving waste management and engaging visitors in sustainable practices, we have examined every aspect of our operations to ensure compliance with Clean Marina standards. I want to personally thank Mark Pearce, General Manager, and the entire marina team for their tireless efforts in meeting the requirements.”

A Collective Industry Effort

Tingdene Marinas recognises that sustainability is a shared responsibility across the marine sector.

Ethan Zone, Strategy Director for Tingdene Group, emphasised: “By working closely with British Marine and TYHA, we are committed to improving our network of marine operations both for the benefit of our customers and in pursuit of a cleaner and more sustainable marine world. Racecourse Marina is a fantastic place for moorings, lodge ownership and restaurant facilities, and this is another achievement for the team and one to take great pride in.”

Visitors to Racecourse Marina Windsor will soon see the official Clean Marina flag proudly displayed, symbolising Tingdene Marinas’ dedication to environmental leadership. This accreditation is just the beginning, as Tingdene Marinas aims to extend this recognition across its marina portfolio, shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future for the UK’s inland waterways.
