MDL Marinas returns to sponsor Key Yachting’s 2024 J-Cup Regatta

In support of its Hamble Point Marina tenant and regatta host Key Yachting, MDL Marinas is pleased to confirm that it will once again be sponsoring the UK’s J-Cup Regatta for 2024.

Taking place from the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble, Southampton between Friday 21 and Sunday 23 June, the annual multi-class regatta is organised exclusively for yachts from the J/Boats brand and comprises three days of high-octane racing around the sailing mecca of The Solent.

All J/Boat models are invited to compete and will feature one-design racing for three classes and IRC Racing classes for mixed fleets. The exciting and competitive three-day regatta will incorporate both windward-leeward and round-the-cans racing. As part of its support for this popular event, MDL Marinas will be providing the popular J-Cup caps to every sailor taking part in the race, a treasured item among participants.

“Once again, we are grateful to MDL for their unwavering support of the J-Cup Regatta,” says Bill Stringer, Key Yachting’s Commercial Director. “Their sponsorship not only helps elevate our event but also adds a crowd-pleasing gesture with the generous provision of the J-Cup caps for each sailor taking part. We couldn’t ask for a better partner, and we look forward to toasting to a fantastic regatta together. At Key Yachting, we pride ourselves on creating an unforgettable experience for sailors of all levels, where passion for the sport and camaraderie come together on the water.”

Tim Mayer, MDL’s Sales and Marketing Director, comments: “We’re delighted to sponsor the J-Cup regatta, offering sailors of all abilities an opportunity to get out on the water and enjoy the sport they’re so passionate about, as well as support the team at Key Yachting who are an integral part of our marina community.”

“The J-Cup Regatta is more than just a race; it’s a celebration of sailing excellence and community spirit. With its competitive yet friendly atmosphere, incredible coastal courses and top-notch organisation, it stands out as a premier event in the sailing calendar.”

The J-Cup’s packed racing programme is coupled with daily prize giving and shoreside entertainment courtesy of the Royal Southern Yacht Club, culminating in a post-regatta party on 22 June. There will also be a Hambledon Vineyard drinks reception followed by a presentation of prizes to the overall event winners on 23 June.
