SailGP previews first details of 2026 Season calendar

SailGP has released a first look of its forthcoming 2026 Season, including the return of fan-favorite locations, with multi-year hosting agreements secured across all regions.

In 2026, the Rolex SailGP Championship will set sail in Perth, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Bermuda, New York, Halifax, Portsmouth, Saint-Tropez and Dubai, followed by the winner-takes-all Grand Final in Abu Dhabi. The full calendar – including remaining host cities and dates – will be confirmed in due course.

The first named 2026 venues will see the championship racing across five global continents – from Australia to Abu Dhabi – building on the success of previous seasons with confirmation of well-established venues, offering thrilling competition and unforgettable fan experiences at every stop.

SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts, shared, “We’ve had unprecedented interest from cities around the world, and SailGP is excited to release a first preview of what fans can expect from the 2026 Season. That includes world-class racing in some of the most iconic stadium destinations we’ve visited to date, and extending our presence in Australia with a first-time event in Perth.”

The 2026 Season will continue a shift toward the consistent, regionalised format SailGP has built over preceding years. Beginning in January and unfolding over an 11-month period, the season will start in Australia in January 2026, before an action-packed tour of North and South America that will include SailGP’s third visit to New York, the return to Halifax, and a highly-anticipated stopover in Rio de Janeiro. From there, racing fans are in for another unforgettable European summer – with returns to Portsmouth and Saint-Tropez confirmed – before the Rolex SailGP Championship comes to its dramatic close with back-to-back events in the UAE in November.

Coutts said: “Return venues are a pivotal aspect of SailGP’s ongoing global expansion, as we strengthen our connection to new and emerging audiences. Destinations like New York and Saint-Tropez have become cornerstone events of the SailGP calendar, with their stunning backdrops, rich sporting histories, and enthusiastic fanbases.”

Coutts continued, “Long-term hosting agreements allow SailGP to build an enduring legacy in the cities we visit, and become tentpole events on the local sporting calendar – serving as crucial touchpoints for fans and sponsors alike.”

This 2025 Season, SailGP welcomed a record fleet of 12 national teams, including two new additions to the startline: the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team and Red Bull Italy SailGP Team. The championship has confirmed plans to add two new expansion teams to its roster in 2026. Growing audiences and consistent sporting action has ensured the championship works with some of the most reputable brands in sport and entertainment, welcoming Emirates, DP World and Accor to its roster of global partners in the 2025 Season, alongside global partners Mubadala and Oracle, and an expanded Title Partnership with Rolex.
