Sophie Tapp, director of Maritime Yacht Services Ltd has been honoured by the British Marine Trades Association as Young Professional of the Year, supported by A-Plan.
The British Marine Trades Association recognised and celebrated successes in the UK leisure marine industry at their annual awards event staged at The Grand, Southampton on 12 June.
A new award was the inspiring initiative by A-Plan for the Future of the Industry, recognising their achievements. The MTA Young Marine Professional of the Year, sponsored by A-Plan Commercial Marine Insurance, went to Maritime Yacht Services, Superyacht tender refit and repair director Sophie Tapp.
The judges were impressed by the heart-warming nomination from someone within the leisure industry that has watched Maritime Yacht Services grow, explaining how since COVID, the business has seen massive development and employment growth. Diversifying from boat maintenance to an entirely new refit centre at Premier Universal Marina on the Hamble River that also facilitates worldwide projects for superyachts and their tenders.
“I am so grateful for being nominated for this stupendous award; the marine industry has been part of my life since childhood. I am genuinely honoured to have won this incredible trophy designed by local artist Jo Munford at Seaview Studio in Netley,” states Sophie.
